Criminal Background Clearance Requirement
Miami University ask that all responsible adults having direct contact with minors undergo a criminal background check prior to engaging in a Program where they will be sharing facilities with minors (i.e., showering, changing, or sleeping facilities). Miami University recommends that background checks include a criminal background check conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII), plus a FBI records check (officially called an FBI Identity History Summary Check and requires fingerprint submission).
However, as Guests, you will not be sharing showering, changing or sleeping facilities with students, except for those chaperoning Minor Guests. As such Miami University has asked that the following background check requirements be followed:
Adult Guests: You are required to have passed a CBC within the last four (4) years. - o If you do NOT have a current CBC on file, you are required, at your own expense, to complete a Criminal Background Clearance and then submit verification of completion BEFORE attending the 2022 NCF-Envirothon Ohio Competition. Your Guest Registration will be marked PENDING until verification is submitted.
- o You may obtain a CBC through SELECTiON.COM® ($35.00 USD plus cost of court fees for select US counties) or comparable service.
- o Same would apply for those attending from outside of the United States.
If you are an Adult Guest who is also a Chaperones of a Minor Guests: Since you will be housed in the same suite as a minor, you are required to have on record or complete the same level of background check that your school or school system would require of any of its teachers/educators who will be sharing facilities with minors (i.e., showering, changing, or sleeping facilities). Same would apply for those attending from outside of the United States.
Note: We DO NOT need a copy, just knowledge of its existence and information on where it can be accessed if necessary.
